Tourist Spots at Agistri
A shuttle journey that lasts about 45 minutes for the whole journey takes one from Piraeus to Agistri. Beyond this small journey is a mesmerizing island with deep blue waters, untouched by pollutants and its rich greenery unspoiled by man. Agistri also boasts of several other locations that tourists can visit on their stop at the Island.
Beaches:
The Skala beach at Agistri is most frequented by tourists. This is particularly due to its shallow waters which render it a safe destination for families with young kids as well as for people who are not familiar with swimming. For the convenience of tourists this popular spot also houses several services, like sun beds, umbrellas, towels etc for rent. A big church in the vicinity is as popular as the beach amongst the tourists. Tourists who prefer naturism can also visit the Halikadha beach at the Agistri Island and feel right at home with people who share their mindsets. Boat Trips to Surrounding Islands:
Visitors to Agistri also prefer to travel to the surrounding islands that are free of any population. The islands are called Metopi, Kira, Spalathronisi and Darousa and tourists visit them for water activities such as snorkeling and swimming. Diving courses of differing levels are also available to tourists.
Historical Sites:
The Agioi Theodoroi and Agioi Pandes are two chapels located in the midst of heavy forestation of pine trees. These are one of the oldest buildings standing on the island and visitors can learn more about the history of Agistri from these chapels than anywhere else. The Virgin Mary Church at Metochi is another spot tourists may be interested in, and are led up by a path of heavy trees. Several other historical churches are found on this island.
